What was the highlight of Cinnamon Hotel
It was good.
I loved the staff in general and their friendliness and willingness to help. I loved the location also and the fact that we had our room upgraded for free.
Upon our arrival, we asked the hotel manager to arrange transport from the airport to the hotel. We asked her how we could identify the driver and she said he would have a "Cinnamon Hotel" placard on him. We identified this driver who confirmed he was sent by Cinnamon Hotel, however, upon our arrival at the hotel, the manager told us this was the wrong driver and made us pay $50 to the driver that we missed. This resulted in us paying double in transport costs which I did not appreciate! Secondly, the manager then imposed a $24 tax on us which is apparently charged by the Zanzibari government and ranges depending on the rating of the hotel, the number of people visiting and number of days visited. I did not appreciate her imposing this tax on us because she could have included it in the price we paid for our stay at the hotel. Now we had to pay another $24, in addition to the $50, all unplanned costs, before we could even have a good time. I think this hotel needs to do better in those respects as they are costing guests money.

Wonderful ocean view
The property was clean, and the sea view was breathtaking as the bungalow basically touched the ocean. The beach also has whitesands. The staff were friendly and very helpful in booking activities.
Unless one is booking the deluxe bungalows with a sea view, I would not recommend this hotel. Jambiani is not the best beach on the island, so expect to drive around quite a bit for activities like snorkelling and dolphin viewing, etc. The restaurant can step its game up a little more.
